Trout fishing
The waters of the River Ter are the ideal habitat for river trout. Thanks to its proximity to the river, Anglès is a highly appreciated destination among tourists for catch-and-release fishing, so much so that the Anglès and County Sport Fishing Society (SPDAC, by its initials in Catalan) is one of the oldest and most influential organisations in the town.
Cycling tourism
Anglès offers a host of routes and trails for cyclists, many of which link up with the El Carrilet Greenway. The main routes are signalled by signs installed by Anglès Town Council and La Selva County Council.
Horse riding
The equestrian route ‘The Eastern Guilleries on Horseback’ is the first horse riding route in Anglès. It was put together by Cowboys de la Selva Equestrian Routes Association and consists of a circular trail measuring around 20 km for horse riding and equestrian tourism.
On the route, you will discover all the diversity of the forests at this end of the Guilleries mountains and get to know the unique features of the plants, wildlife, landscapes and architectural heritage that define this area.
It runs along forest trails and the GR-178 path (En Serrallonga Route). There are two uphill and two downhill parts, all clearly defined, with flat stretches now and again. The difficulty is medium and it can be done at three gaits: walk, trot or canter.
Hiking routes
Anglès offers all sorts of paths and forest trails for walking or cycling. They cross many different wooded and rural spots, from which you can take in magnificent views of the town, the valley and a lot of the Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees, especially on top of Santa Bàrbara Mountain.
These natural gems and the town’s cultural heritage can be explored on various signposted walking and cycling routes:
- En Serrallonga Route (GR178 – from Anglès to Santa Coloma de Farners).
- Walking among almond trees (route from Anglès to Brunyola).
- A walk along the banks of the Ter (route from Anglès to Bonmatí).
- The path by the Ter (circular route through the Gorga Blava along the Camí de les Pesqueres trail).
- The domesticated Ter (route from Anglès to La Cellera).
- The farmhouses of Sant Amanç (mountain biking or walking).
- Sant Pere Sestronques (mountain biking or walking).
The Ten-Hermitage Route
The Ten-Hermitage Route passes through the towns and villages of Riudarenes, Santa Coloma de Farners, Sant Hilari Sacalm, Osor and Anglès. On the route, you will visit ten Romanesque hermitages as well as other sites of historical, artistic and natural interest, including Farners Castle and the cross at Roques del Rei
The greenway
The El Carrilet Greenway is 57 kilometres long, stretching from Olot to Girona and crossing three counties: Gironès, La Selva and La Garrotxa.
The Anglès–Amer stretch is 8 km long and runs along the Brugent and Ter rivers. The greenway passes along all the old railway stations on this line, in the municipalities of Bonmatí, Anglès, La Cellera de Ter, El Pasteral and Amer.

Font del Canyo
The Font del Canyo fountain can be found in the park named after it, Font del Canyo Park, a landscaped area designed by municipal architect Joaquim M. Masramon in the 1940s. It is located right next to the Rissec stream, near the road that goes from Anglès to Santa Coloma de Farners. The fountain was once used regularly and much appreciated by the inhabitants of Anglès.
